Memorabilia photograph issued by the Welcoming Committee (Sydney)

In order to commemorate the event, the Welcoming Committee arranged a photograph portrait of Cardinal Wojtyla. It included a dedication from him to Poles in Australia as arranged by Mr. Jozef Drewniak.

It was offered to all Polish families through the Polish parishes and a voluntary donation was collected. The donation paid for the printing (organized by Mr. Karowski).

Initially 2500 copies were printed and distributed at the Polish Club Ashfield, the Polish Scouts and the Polish Catholic parishes throughout Sydney.

A couple of hundred copies were sent to Wollongong, Canberra, Newcastle, S.A., N.Z. & Victoria.
Surplus funds, after covering costs of printing and distribution, were donated to the Building Fund for the Marian Sanctuary in Essendon, Melbourne.

In February 1974 another 1500 copies were printed and sent to Victoria. Mr. Drewniak was responsible for the distribution outside of Sydney.

After dissolution of the Welcoming Committee (Sydney)
On 10-th August 1973 any remaining copies were given to the Polish Priests who distributed them through their local church committees11.
